Health Requirements

Immunizations
Students enrolled in a University System of Georgia program must provide documentation for the following immunizations prior to attending class. Proof of immunizations or immunity should be documented on the Certificate of Immunization, which must be downloaded, completed, and signed by a medical practitioner.

  • Hepatitis B: Three-shot series; 30 days between shots 1 and 2; 120 days between shots 2 and 3
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps (Parotitis), and Rubella (German Measles): two-shot series; 28 days between shots 1 and 2.  In the United States, this immunization is called MMR. Students born before 1957 are exempt from the MMR requirement.
  • Tetanus-Diphtheria must be given within 10 years prior to the first day of classes
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox) – history of having had the disease is acceptable

If you do not submit acceptable proof of immunization before or during registration, you will be required to complete the immunizations during your first session at the Language Institute.

These immunizations are available at the Georgia Tech Student Health Center for the following estimated costs (subject to change):

  • Hepatitis B (three-shot series): $40/shot = $120 total
  • MMR (two-shot series) : $54/shot = $108 total
  • Tetanus-Diphtheria: $50 total
  • Varicella (two-shot series) : $90/shot = $180 total

You may also utilize county health departments or private doctors in the United States for these immunizations. Because immunizations are expensive, we strongly encourage you to complete these immunizations in your home country prior to arriving in the United States. You may fax the completed immunization form to the Language Institute (404-894-8755) before you arrive OR bring the form with you to registration on the first day of the session.
