Customized Courses for Georgia Tech Departments

The Language Institute creates customized ESL programs to meet the needs of the various Georgia Tech departments. The programs are designed to meet the specific needs, time constraints, and budgets of a department. Students work on improving their language skills in specific areas that are necessary for success in their academic programs or disciplines.

What You Will Cover
Course content is geared toward the academic discipline of your department. The focus of the program might include the following skill areas, tailored to your needs:

  • Accent reduction
  • Oral presentations
  • Interviewing
  • Discussion
  • Conversation
  • Academic writing

Students
The program may be set up with students participating on a voluntary basis, or students may be required by their department to participate. Each program typically begins with an assessment of the students’ current English ability in a particular skill.

Format
The format can include:

  • Classes of up to 20 students
  • Intensive workshops
  • Semi-private tutorials (two to three students)
  • Private one-on-one tutorials
  • A combination of the above options

Location:
We can conduct customized programs at the Language Institute or in a space provided by your department.
