Map & Directions

Most English classes, including the Intensive English Program, the Evening Classes, and the Spring and Summer Short Courses, are held at the Language Institute, which is located in the south end of the O'Keefe Building at the corner of 6th Street and Techwood Drive. The address is 151 6th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30332-0374.

MARTA

Should I take the train?
Yes. We encourage all students to take MARTA if possible.

Georgia Tech’s complimentary shuttle, the Tech Trolley, provides transportation for students and visitors arriving and departing from the Midtown Station. The Tech Trolley runs 5:45 a.m. until 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at approximately 10-minute intervals.

Exit the train station onto Peachtree Place (south side) to get on the trolley. The closest trolley stop to the Language Institute is at the intersection of Techwood Drive and 5th Street.

Driving

I will be driving from the south side of Atlanta.
What are the directions?

  • Take I-85 North to Exit #250 - GA Tech / 10th Street
  • When you are on the exit ramp, you need to quickly move into the far right lane. (Be alert because there is very little time and space to make this lane change!)
  • At the 1st traffic light, turn right onto 10th Street and stay in the right lane
  • At the next traffic light, turn right onto Spring Street.
  • Stay on Spring Street for 4 blocks.
  • Cross over 5th Street (3rd traffic light).
  • Look to your right for the parking deck entrance at the next immediate traffic light.
  • Park on the 2nd level.

If you are not able to get into the right turn lane fast enough, don’t worry! Continue straight across 10th Street to 14th Street. Turn right onto 14th Street and stay in the right lane. Turn right again onto Spring Street and follow the directions above from when you cross over 10th Street.

I will be driving from the north side of Atlanta
What are the directions?

  • Take I-85 South to Exit #84 - 10th Street / 14th Street - and move to the middle lane.
  • Take I-75 South to Exit #250 - 10th Street / 14th Street - and move to the left lane (the right lane turns into 6th Street).
  • At the 1st traffic light, cross over 14th Street and move to the left lane (stay in the left lane).
  • At the next traffic light, turn left onto 10th Street.
  • Move to the right lane while crossing the bridge and Williams Street (1st traffic light).
  • Turn right onto Spring Street (2nd traffic light).
  • Stay on Spring Street for 4 blocks.
  • Cross over 5th Street (3rd traffic light).
  • Look to your right for the parking deck entrance (at the next immediate traffic light).
  • Park on the 2nd level.

Parking

When I get to 5th Street, where do I enter the parking deck?
Park at the Global Learning Center. The Spring Street entrance for the parking deck is at the traffic light between 5th and 4th Streets.

*If you miss the Spring Street entrance, continue to the next intersection (no traffic light) and turn right onto 4th Street. There is a 2nd entrance to the parking deck across from the Arby’s Restaurant.

What are the parking fees
Parking in the Spring Street Deck is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rates are $0.75 per half hour with a $10 maximum.

Where can I park after I complete my registration and start classes
Campus parking information for areas other than the Spring Street Parking Deck will be included in the orientation materials you receive on the first day of the session.

*Vehicle registration is required and parking permits must be purchased. Parking assignments are authorized by the Georgia Tech Parking Office. Parking fees are determined by the type of parking area assigned (i.e. deck, lot, or street parking).

Finding the Language Institute

How do I get from the parking deck to the Language Institute?

  • Enter the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center from the 2nd level.
  • Walk down the stairs to the 1st floor and exit directly outside through the front doors.
  • Continue walking straight to 5th Street.
  • Turn left onto 5th Street, cross Williams Street and continue 1 block to Techwood Drive.
  • Turn right onto Techwood Drive at the first traffice light.
  • Walk 1 block north to the intersection of Techwood Drive and 6th Street.
  • Cross 6th Street.
  • The Language Institute will be directly in front of you.
